On October 4, around 2 p.m, a small group of Ocerians made their way to St. Joseph Layibi College for a special farewell gathering. The group comprised mainly S4 and S6 students who, for the past four or six years, have been beneficiaries of ChildrenUp Uganda.

The chief speaker, Ms. Akello Jackline, urged the students to build their own personal brands. A strong personal brand, she explained, can increase one’s marketability and chances of success.

The mentors, too, had an opportunity to counsel their mentees. Mr. Benley Francis and Ms. Apio Flavia mentor the beneficiaries at Ocer, while Mr. Nyuma Gabriel mentors those at Layibi College. All three encouraged the students to remain calm and focused before, during and after the examinations.

The short but uplifting function ended with a group photo, capturing a moment of celebration and gratitude for the gift that each student represents in this noble project of supporting children in need.

Bravo to ChildrenUp Uganda! Bravo to the mentors! And bravo to the students for striving to live up to the expectations of those who have placed their hope and trust in them.

Best wishes to all the candidates in their examinations!
